This workshop will be very helpful for Spiritual Directors, Pastoral Ministers,
Therapists & Health Care Practitioners.
This workshop will explore three experiences of darkness: spiritual desolation, depression, and the dark night. The following questions will be addressed through input, discussion, case studies and story:
- What is spiritual desolation and what are its causes? How does a person work through spiritual desolation?
- What are characteristics of the dark night of the soul and how is this experience different from the spiritual desolation?
- What is depression? What are the symptoms and causes of depression? What are some treatments for depression?
- What is the relationship between desolation & depression?
- How can a spiritual director or another helping person, help someone who is desolate, depressed, and/or experiencing the dark night?
